Sponsored by the Taiwanese Minstry of Culture and organized by the Department of Chinese Studies at the University of Warsaw, the Polish edition of the Spotlight Taiwan festival aims to promote Taiwanese culture in Poland. This year’s edition focuses on contemporary literature.
The main guests at the festival will be Li Ang (李昂, born 1952), one of the most influential feminist writers of contemporary Chinese literature, and Bai Xianyong (白先勇, born 1937), counted among the most important authors of Chinese modernism.
The events accompanying Li Ang’s and Bai Xianyong’s visit to Poland include lectures on contemporary Chinese-language literature and the culture of Taiwan as well as promotion of the Polish translations of their writings. The festival is held in Warsaw, Cracow, and Toruń.
